Our recruitment service is provided by Capita Resourcing Limited (“the Resourcing Supplier”) under the banner of Essex Recruitment Team which the Resourcing Supplier maintains and manages on behalf of Essex County Council (“ECC”). ECC and its Resourcing Supplier will use the information that you provide as part of our recruitment process for the purposes of progressing and evaluating your application, making any reasonable adjustments, for conducting equal opportunities monitoring and for provision of statutory services including education and social care, protection of vulnerable children and adults, and the support of public health and wellbeing. In delivering the services to ECC the Resourcing Supplier will, through the Working for Essex website collect, use and share your Sensitive Personal Data as outlined below.
By registering you are providing personal data to both ECC and its Resourcing Supplier. Should your application be successful this data will be used and shared with third parties who provide products or services to ECC and the Resourcing Supplier, regulatory authorities, potential purchasers of the service or the business in which you work, and as may be required by law for the purposes of, but not limited to, recruitment and selection, pre-employment checks and payroll processing.
In accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018, if your application is successful ECC and the Resourcing Supplier will use your information for the purposes of employee administration and if unsuccessful we will retain your records for a period of 12 months from the date of completion of the relevant recruitment process (in exceptional circumstances, we may need to retain your record for a further duration in order to comply with Home Office requirements). If you register and create a candidate profile with us (but do not apply for a particular vacancy) we will retain your records for a period of 12 months from the date of your last access/update or until you gain employment with ECC, whichever is the longer.

- The information you have provided in your application and candidate profile is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge and belief and that you understand that provision of any false information will result in the termination of your application irrespective of the stage of the application process that you have reached, and, if necessary, retraction of any offer of employment with immediate effect. For example those checks as are conducted by Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) and Adult Safeguarding, who provide wider access to criminal record information through the disclosure service and enable ECC to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially if the work you are applying for involves working with, or has access to, children or vulnerable adults or their records.
